School of Business Team achieved third place

Aalto University School of Business students placed third in the International Graduate Challenge at HEC Montreal, Canada.

Team Members were full time master level CEMS students: Mr Patrik Akrenius (Marketing & Finance), Mr Juuso Saloranta (International Business), Ms Sara Montonen (Economics & Finance) and Mr Joosep Kadak (Economics).

48 hours challenge

Participating teams had 48 hours to work on the case company in addition to the day full of workshops and conferences as well as interaction with mentors for different functional areas of the business: Strategy, Marketing, Finance and Social Entrepreneurship. Working time included meeting with the company representatives, analysis of the company, decision recommendation, strategic course of action, and back it up with thorough justification, employing business logic, qualitative and quantitative projections, risks and their mitigation.

The case company was Jovia, a social enterprise based in Montreal, Canada. Jovia's mission is to contribute to improving the quality of life of hospital patients through its therapeutic clown programs that combine complicity, playfulness and imagination. The challenge for teams was to recommend a short and long term strategy for growth and development.

Aalto University participated for the third time in the IGC by HEC Montreal. Before their trip to the HEC Montreal Challenge, the team has gone through the intensive training on hands-on business analysis and decision-making across all functional areas of business, as well as business presentation training.
