Otaniemi Campus

Our Bachelor's degree programme moved to Otaniemi in the autumn of 2015.

The main campus of Aalto University is located in Otaniemi, Espoo. A unique combination of education, research and business is densely packed into this small area. Otaniemi has twice been chosen as one of the most innovative areas in Europe, and it has also been awarded the EU Award of Excellence. Several head offices of some of Finland’s largest companies can be found near Otaniemi.

The Otaniemi campus is based on the plans of the famous Finnish architect Alvar Aalto. A handful of the buildings on the campus are also designed by Aalto. The campus has several buildings that host the faculties and units of the Aalto University schools of technology and also the School of Arts, Design and Architecture. Also, a new building is on the works, which will provide more space for the needs of the growing campus.

In June 2011, the Board of Aalto University decided that the main campus of the university will be located in Otaniemi. The main campus supports limit-breaking research and rich interaction between the different fields of the university. The Otaniemi campus will be developed gradually, in both an economically and ecologically sustainable manner.

The Bachelor's degree programme of the School of Business moved to the Otaniemi main campus in the Autumn 2015. The building at Otakaari 1 was transformed into a lively centre of bachelor-level studies and an attractive learning environment where students from various fields can meet and study together.

Study Spaces

U wing has different kinds of study spaces for varying needs: group work spaces, common study spaces and computer labs. In the Undergraduate Centre (Otakaari 1) there is also Learning Hub, which is a study space open for 24/7.

Booking facilities

The facilities on the Otaniemi Campus (lecture halls, conference facilities, etc.) can also be booked for private functions. More information: Book Campus facilities.

Restaurants

Various restaurants in Otaniemi serve daily lunch, cafe and other refreshments. Opening hours, lunch menus and more detailed information can be found on the restaurants' website.
